Skin Care Zinc Oxide

What is good for skin irritation?

My 89 yr old grandmother is bed ridden & not doing to good. She will not eat solid foods so its all liquids. At times the liquids drips down her chin & now below her lower lip & chin gets red & irritated. We have a ex nurse that helps us out (I really don’t care for him) & he told us to use triple antibiotic ointment on it which seems like it has made it worse. So I quit using it a couple days to let it air out & it got a little better. The skin looks a little dry too.

So does anyone have any suggestions on what else would work to clear it up totally? How about zinc oxide?

For 1, do not wiping her mouth; pat it very gently Wiping causes irritation. Her skin has thined with age.

Yes, triple antibiotics will help and keep the area from becoming infected.

You need to keep her hydrated and apply moisterizer to her skin 2 times a day to help prevent the dryness.
