any vegetarians in china/japan?
i always see in news and magazines how china and japan are so cruel to animals, and china skins racoon dogs and sell there fur as faux fur to europe and america, and i recently saw a picture from japan with a bag sewn shut with live ducks in there and they were smashing them with hammers, and they find cats and dogs repulsive and eat them, so i was just wondering if there are any one there that love and care about animals?
Yes there are vegetarians in both countries. Buddhism for one is a religion with many vegetarian followers. Overall, there aren’t many vegetarians in Japan but there’s enough that people know what it is and there’s some restaurants, health shops, etc. Generally in Japan vegetarian means no land flesh so they still eat creatures from the sea. The very devout Buddhists are more like vegans though. Japanese do not eat cats and dogs. They love them. They are popular pets. Cats are probably more popular but my family has always had dogs. Your basic small pets such as fish and hamsters and turtles also exist there as well. They also keep insects as pets but Westerners would probably find that repulsive and kill the insects.
If you’re going to talk about the meat industry well then the whole world could be considered cruel, right? I’m sure the American cattle industry makes us monsters in the eyes of Hindus. If you really find this stuff hideous, if you can’t kill the food you are about to consume or live with the fact that you eat some animals but call others pets, please consider going vegetarian.
